We were listening to NPR this morning and someone was interviewing Obama about something (yes, that's vague, I know). I was just waking up from an incredibly uncomfortable night's sleep (hurray for being enormous and having to wake up at ungodly hours of the morning and being unable to go back to sleep) and therefore remember very little about what he was saying as I slogged through making my bowl of oatmeal. However, it was music to my ears and created hope inside of me to think that someone who can speak English (not American) properly in complete sentences with proper grammar AND (are you ready for this???) actually answers the questions asked of him/her may be occupying the White House next spring. The sheer thought of it makes me giddy. I must say I have my doubts about any of the potential candidates in their abilities and willingness to actually tackle issues like health care, Iran, Iraq, or the plummeting economic situation. Granted, one's English abilities may not be a strong indicator of one's moral values or policy-making abilities (in a similar manner that one's sex life is not an indicator of your ability to rule a nation effectively), but I think it's certainly a step in the right direction--at least I won't want to throw the radio out the window every time I hear our President speak.
